Songs for the Oppressed (vol 1)

For the last six months, I’ve had the privilege of partnering with International Teams and eight other artists to create “Songs for the Oppressed (vol 1)”.  Scott Olson (I-Team’s president) has had the dream to unleash indie artists to create songs/art for the direct benefit of the most oppressed people on planet earth, and his vision is now alive and kicking.

I’m going to be doing a lot more blogging about this project – sharing songs, stories, and more – but today I want to let you know about two things:

First, check out the website today!

songsfortheoppressed.org.

You can listen to all the songs, learn about the artists, check out the video contest, submit a song for volume 2, or join this cause by buying a CD or two…or ten.

Second, we are having a night of worship for the oppressed THIS WEDNESDAY AT WILLOW CREEK.  7pm in the Lake Side Auditorium.  Please join us in singing songs to God (from this CD), and then praying for the world…that God’s will would be done and God’s Kingdom would come.  The new CDs will also be available for the first time.  (Gordon MacDonald will be giving a message afterward called “Cultivating Deep People”).  Hope to see you there!

  2. Aaron,

I want to echo’s Scott’s words of thanks for your work on this project. It is so good to have such a powerful tool in our hands to tell the story of the oppressed people in our world and to help make the invisible visible. And we already have nine song submissions for Vol. 2!
